LECTURES
Week 1: During the first week, the lecturer explain the module on
the weeks going forward. Besides that, we start to create our e-portfolios on
blogger, we need to post our work there and the lecture will check our work
and give some feedback too. We also need to refer the slides for more
information. Therefore, the lecture started to explain the first
exercise which is physical collage. Next, the lecture started given the first
exercise, that we need to use magazine, newspapers or other to cut out the
pictures that you like and design 3 collage.
Week 2: During the week 2, lecture started to check our 3 physical collage
that we had posted in the google drive, and lecture choose the nice one.
Therefore, we started to do the exercise 2 which is digital collage. We also
need to design 3 digital collage by using the images that lecture given. and
we need to final the physical collage and hand in too.
Week 3: public holiday
Week 4: In this week we need to learn how to use quick selection tool and do a
Shazam project. we need to download the Shazam picture that lecture given.
First, we need use quick selection tool to subtract background. Then add layer
mask, apply layer mask 
Drag & drop Shazam to Hearst mansion, resize Shazam and reposition.
- Shortcut keys: free transform mode, maintain aspect ratio
(Hold the shift button on your keyboard to rescale the layer)
Adjust the colour correction: Match colour (Image >
adjustment)
Match image quality: Add noise filter to Shazam
(amount: 9.5%)
Create shadow for Shazam
- Create new layer
(and rename as shadow)
- Use brush tool
- Draw a black shadow on the background of Shazam's layer
Apply gaussian blur effect on the shadow layer, so it will become not so
obvious.
Reduce the shadow's layer to 66% opacity
Create new layer to make Shazam's reflection.
- Shortcut keys: Polygonal Lasso Tool
- Duplicate the Shazam's layer
- Rename the layer as reflection
Adjust the colour correct for reflection layer:
Hue/Saturation (Image > adjustments)
Lastly, apply ripple filter to Shazam's reflection layer.
(amount: 105%)
Week 5: In this week we need to do digital imaging (recolouring). We need to
download all the picture from this docs

First, we need to select the skin colour with marquee tool, copy selected area
- Shortcut key:
Marquee tool: M, copy: cmd/ctrl c
Paste selection at the B&W portrait, rename new created layer as
skin colour, select eyedropper tool
Change sample size to: 5 by 5 average
- Use
eyedropper pick up highlight, paint on top with brush tool
(size: 30, Hardness: 100%).
Repeat the process for mid-tone, shadow.
- Repeat the process for choosing highlight, mid-tone, shadow from hair
reference image.
Roughly select hair by using quick selection tool, refine selection in
select & mask.
Select overlay, refine edge brush tool, Brush ver the edges.
After refining, select output to: layer mask.
Create new solid layer, use colour picker to choose hair colour.
Drag & drop hair layer mask to new solid layer to replace layer mask,
select soft light
( blending mode)
Repeat the process for face, layer masks: quick selection tool to
roughly make selection, refine mask with select & mask mode. Use
brush tool mask out eyes, lips, ear ring.
- Repeat the process - Output to: layer mask
- Create new solid layer, use colour picker to choose skin colour.

Drag&drop hair layer mask to new solid layer to replace layer mask.
- Select soft light
(Blending mode)
- Repeat the process for fur layer mask
- Create new solid layer with layer mask for eye, lips, teeth, ear ring

Add layer mask to new solid layer, choose background colour and blending
mode.

EXERCISE
In the first exercise we need to design three physical collage and digital
collage.
